Here’s my first finished piece from “that” warp mentioned in the last two posts. LINK + LINK It was accepted in an important show at the O’Hanlon Gallery in Mill Valley, California. LINK The juror was Carole Beadle, a well-known teacher of fiber art. (I didn’t have time to fix the straying wefts as I would normally have done.)
However, before I submitted the work, it fell down when I was working on the hanging device. With the threads off tension this is what I faced!
I spent hours and days straightening and pulling out each and every kink with a straight pin! Talk about patience: I didn’t have the luxury to be impatient; It became meditative handwork.
I needed to bring this one home from the studio to prepare a proper hanging device. (This photo was in my previous post.)
Again, my piece became snarled and I’ve been working out the kinks a few hours at a time for days. Now, it’s ready to hang—I surely will be carefully keeping it on tension as much as possible while lifting it to hang it on the wall!
