I’m organizing silks I dyed with Avocado Pits
Getting them all lined up nicely is taking patience.
Note: The colors are somewhat off. They should be more pinkish.

I’m using silverware to hold pieces in place while arranging them. Much easier than using straight pins. Some silks are slippery.

I learned the silverware trick from the woman who made my vest with the comic papers. These are the silks before they were dyed. I had over 20 different silk fabrics.

At first, I didn’t think they needed to be lined up.

When I finish arranging them, I hope to attach them to a bamboo rod to hang them.
Beautiful, simple and calming. Thank you for sharing your work with the world.
Such lovely colors. I especially like the dark one, with iron. Will have to try it myself. I wonder why avocado dye isn’t more well known.
I have been saving my avacado pits for some time , there might be 50-60 in bags in the freezer . Not quite sure what I’ll do with them , but just started to throw them in bags to keep . Will they dye cotton as well?
I don’t know. You’ll have to look that up.

I don’t have a ton of dying experience but I’ve generally found that things that dye silk will also dye cotton. I’d be curious to hear how it goes for you if you try it, and I’d definitely encourage you to! Cotton’s cheap and you have plenty of pits so give it a shot for curiosity’s sake! 😁
Just beautiful Peggy.
Quite a project.
