I’ve been making hangings using my dyed fabrics. Indigo for blues, turmeric, saffron, and henna for yellows, green persimmons (kakishibu), for pinks and browns. There are 7 hangings. I’m showing one for reference and then detail photos. I loved putting the pieces together.
WOW! 😀 Love the beauty you create!
Your palette is so appealing, and the artistic combinations so much like the natural world. Inspiring!
Really lovely.
They are amazing, Peggy! Quite a process from the paintings to your pieces. Love them!
Your work is SO beautiful. I just want to tell you what an inspiration you are!!
Thank you, Peggy.
These are lovely. I wonder if you could offer some hints about persimmon dyeing, since it’s the time of summer fruit drop.
The persimmons need to be the variety that gets squishy when ripe. To use for dyeing you need them to be green, hard, and about the size of golf balls. I’m thinking about now in California. Go to http://www.kakishibui.com and get Chris Conrad’s book. that’s been my bible and she is very helpful with questions. Good luck!
