We went to see the red pineapple plants grown for the fibers in the leaves to weave the pina cloth.

The leaves were then taken to a workshop where they were processed into threads.

The leaf was scraped on both sides using a broken dinner plate

The fibers were eventually revealed and combed.

The bowl obtained one long strand of thread, ready to be measured out for the warp which is put on the loom.

Some looms were set up with special heddles to inlay weft threads to make patterns.
