Weaving Sheer Pockets

I keep wanting to show how transparent the sewing thread cloth is. The circles are in pockets–in a sandwich between the two layers of double weave cloth. I like to make the two layers when I want to open up the sett (ends per inch). Ask me what the circles are–I wonder if anyone can figure them out.

  1. I don’t have a clue. How did you do this?

The last year or so I’ve been reading about Moorman and transparency in weaving. Then I discovered your work … what a delight.

    • This is plain and simple plain weave and double weave tubes plus one extra thing: The extra warp. I made it separately and threaded it between the heddles. I’m using 4 shafts–the supplementary warp doesn’t go up and down–it stays in the middle of the sheds all the time (like floating selvedges). Put the shuttle below the supp. warps and they will show on the top. Put it below and they will be below.
