Rigid Heddle Loom Weaving

Do you know that there is a whole chapter on rigid heddle weaving in my new book, “Weaving for Beginners”? These looms are very popular with knitters and would-be weavers. I’m mentioning it because a friend told me he had gotten a rigid heddle loom and hadn’t realized I had included it in my book. Also, I want you to know it so can have it in mind so you can recommend it to others.
They are really fun to use! Warping takes minutes instead of hours or days.

  1. Yes, and I love it. You did a great job with it and I have referred to it a few times as a budding weaver. I have a large floor loom that I have not “confronted” yet, and the rigid heddle helped me to understand clearly the basic process and also enlighten me that I knew more than I realized. I was excited to see this section in your great book.

    • What a pleasure to get your comment. It’s just exactly what I had imagined, but then worried no one would go to the chapter. Hooray!! Thanks so much for your kind words.

  2. I’m glad to give you the feedback. I originally bought your book to help me with the big loom, when my local yarn shoppe ventured into the knitter’s loom. I was so excited that I took their class and bought the loom, dragging your new book in to the shoppe with me. The instructor and other students all gathered ’round and I pointed out that you had included “our loom” in your book. After the class, at home, armed with yarn and loom, your book was a fabulous reference and reminder of what to do in the process when I no longer had the instructor to ask. Since then I have sold several scarfs and am enjoying immensely my delving into the weaving world.

I highly recommend your book to any who ask, and I know several have ordered theirs. It gave me great confidence and is full of great stuff and marvelous illustrations. Can’t say enough good things about it. Thank you for taking it on, I can see it was a huge undertaking.

  3. Peggy: I have a quilting friend who is loosing her eyesight and has asked me if weaving is a feasible craft for her. I am wondering about suggesting a single rigid heddle because much can be done by feel, especially the threading. Do you have any suggestions or comments?
    Thanks so much. K
